Step on a crack...

Last week as the VOLS struggled against UCLA, I was going through my inventory of superstitions to try and get them back on track. I thought I'd share a few football and non-football ones with the Schwangston readers.

VOLS
Orange Shirt: Back in the glory days (96-99), I'd wear the same shirt until we lost a game and then I'd move on to another (I did wash them between games). Unfortunately, I've had to bolster my inventory of shirts to make it through more recent seasons.

Mrs. Schwangston VOLS
TV: If the team is doing well while she is doing something else (i.e. cleaning, organizing, interneting etc), she won't come watch. This also works if she is asleep.
In Person: She doesn't usually partake in pregame beverages at tailgates and never during the game. The one time she did Auburn 2004, we were crushed at home 34-10.

Beyond the VOLS
Pre Race Shave: I never shave the day of  a bike race. I read you lose energy regrowing facial hair. I have had some bad race results when professional circumstances did not allow for three day growth.

Mrs. Schwangston
#18: Peyton and the Colts are undefeated when she wears her #18 Colts jersey (which most likely aided Eli's Super Bowl victory too).  The only reason they didn't beat the Chargers last year is she did not have one in maternity size. We are looking for a #16 Peyton Tennessee jersey as I type this blog.

Lucky Coin: In Tahoe a couple years ago, she won a silver dollar during a Black Jack game. She kept it and won $125 that night.  She took it to Vegas and won another $50 in ~45 minutes of black jack.  She keeps it in her purse for luck.

Please share your sports or everyday superstitions in the comments.   I think my VOLS could use more luck this year.

Thanks for reading...

I always rub Steve Kennedy's belly for good luck.

I can't think of anything I do for luck?? Maybe that is why I do not win the lottery, or is it because I often forget to buy a ticket???

In honor of you and Erin I drafted Peyton as my QB for my FF team. Ben forces me to do FF. I don't know why he wants me to, I always beat him.

Where do I start...

Highschool - No shave on days I was pitching (baseball); warmup ritual for both baseball and basketball. If I was hot in warm-up shoot-around in basketball, I never played well in the game. If I couldn't throw it in the ocean during warm-ups, I would catch fire in the game.

UT - I had a lucky hat and T-Shirt combination for the 1997 and 1998 seasons. Unfortunately, the shirt is gone, so I cannot resurrect the magic.

Today - I obviously have not found a new lucky shirt for UT games.

I never gamble in Vegas with Rachel near me. I was up $300 on the house in January. She went to the Blackjack table with me, I lost $100 in 10 minutes (8 straight hands).
