Owen update

We've been home since Friday afternoon...slowly recovering (c section) and adjusting to our new family of four. Thanks for all of the emails, calls, voicemails, and just "checking ins"...

Sweet Owen is a sleepy, relaxed little fella.  He has auburn hair like mine and blue eyes that are rarely open.  I think that they will turn brown over time.  His middle name is in honor of my mom - it was her mom's maiden name. Yes, it's true that we didn't name O until Wednesday afternoon.  My planning skills were on hiatus the last few months (much to Bill's disbelief).  

Since many of you have asked, big brother Carter LOVES Owen so much...to the point that we have to shield O from big hugs, face pats, high fives, kisses, etc.  Bill keeps talking about Lennie from Of Mice and Men (which is an excellent, short book if you have never read it).  I imagine that the day will come when Carter is ready to "send him back," but it seems like we are far from it for now.

Grammy Pat has been a big help - she leaves on Friday (and then off for a 15 day Europe trip next week). Besides me, I think that she was the happiest that Owen decided to enter the world earlier than his original due date of June 11th since she booked this trip a long time ago.  We even got to see Pat's sister Aunt Peg (below) on Tuesday when she came up for a quick visit.

More help/visitors coming...Dad and Lisa are due on Sunday, staying through next week.  Aunt K10 and Aunt Sara (with her boys) will be here in July...Aunt Katie is due around August 13th with yet another Schwie boy, so it will be a while before the babies meet (unless I can sneak to FL before my leave is up).

PS - big congrats to Aunt K10 on her new job with Salvation Army and to the Utz/Brownleys on the birth of Landon on Monday!
