Viva Nashvegas!

Once we finally made it to Nashville, we certainly got a lot in.  The boys were welcomed to Grammy's House with pretty much every toy that I remember playing with from my childhood and about 4 others.  Carter was concerned during the drive over b/c he somehow forgot to bring any dinosaurs.  Grammy eased his anxiety by locating some giant dinosaurs that she'd been stowing away in the basement like a fine wine.  Brontosaurus 1987, Carter?  It has a full body and is playing quite nicely.  Yes please.

Carter was fortunate to have these backup dinosaurs at Grammy's house, but K10 & Ryan had him covered too.  On afternoon, we were hosted by the Gillespies, treated to dinosaur sandwiches, and several more dino-related toys.  I was beginning to wonder how I was going to compete with this back in NC.  The afternoon was complete with C swinging precariously on K10's tree swing.  Carter made good on touching the bush and kicking the fence (prereq's of being in the "swing club").  At almost 4yrs, he's probably the youngest member.

The real hit of the trip was precious Baby Olive.  It has been 7 years of cousins, and we finally have a niece.  I'm a little worried on how to work with the ladies, but Carter was very sweet with her, and I remembered some of the excitement when he first saw Owen.  I only had to redirect him a few times from getting a little too physical with lil' Olive.  Owen, on the other hand, had a harder time containing his enthusiasm.  I guess because he remembers all of the tackling, trucks on his head, balls bounced off of him, and he made a couple solid runs at Olive.  Thankfully she is very well built, and equally protected by new Mom K10.

Some highlights from Nashville: getting all of the grandchildren to church, trips to the playground, skatepark, visiting with friends: Reed & Pace, and the Wyatt crew in their new house (which made me long even more for our new house). It was great to relax and have some good home cooking too:  spaghetti, meatloaf, and chicken & dumplings.
It was a great trip and definitely worth the effort of the daring solo drive with the two boys.  I'm looking forward to coming back in November with some backup though.

Thanks for reading...
