Blogging Recession

Much like our economy, the Schwangston blog has hit the skids in the past few weeks. However, this "Blog Bailout" will cost you nothing and get you up to speed on all things Schwangston. This blog is inspired by my buddy Reed, whose updates are infrequent (like this one) and cover all bases.

VOLS - They are terrible. I've been through five "lucky" shirts this season. Much like Phil, I don't have the answer for this team.Knoxville/NC - I made a trip last week to Knoxville for work, and it was great to catch up with Clark & P.Wade and console each other about the aforementioned team in orange. I also made a dash into the Blue Ridge Mountains to ride a few days with my NC cycling buddy Matt. It is great to be reminded why I love cycling every time that I make it back. Matt got a new job (Senior Pastor at his church at 30!) and a new bike. I'm happy for both events.

Starbucks - Despite Mrs. Schwangston and a few of our neighbors loyal support, the local Starbucks (stroller distance away from the house) closed this weekend. This is a serious issue to both Mrs. Schwangston and our nanny who make regular stroller visits w/C. Stay tuned on adjustments.

Carter - He is turning a ONE on Wednesday (10/15). Unbelievable. People tell me he will be going to college before I know it. Right now, he is running, dancing, eating with his hands, and getting louder and more stubborn/determined by the minute. We are making a trip to Knoxville to see the rivalry that is UT vs. MSU on the third Saturday of October. Please pray for my VOLS and a smooth plane trip with C. Related aging events include: cousin Tyler (2) and Lisa aka Lee-Law (39 & please give any alt. grandma names in the comments).

Wild Kingdom - We have a beast(s) invading my backyard and "the Doctors" yard next door. It/they are digging huge chunks out of our lawns. So far, the sightings include a gaggle of raccoons and one possum. We're not sure who is the culprit, but if it doesn't stop, PETA may put me on a list for my actions.

Pictures - We took Carter for his professional pics at the Dallas Arboretum yesterday. It was super challenging, and let's just say making videos is way easier than controlling him in the open. Rangling a little fella that would rather run, look away, NOT SMILE, or just do the opposite is exhausting. His next pictures could be his Senior portraits. One proof is below.
Running - I bought a pair of running shoes the other day to run some this winter. My main goal is a decent showing(i.e. not get passed by anyone pushing a stroller) at the Boulevard Bolt in Nashvegas over Thanksgiving. Also maybe some cross-training over the winter. The last time I ran anywhere over 30 yards was at least 5 years ago. Stay tuned on how my knees will support this idea.

Patio - Totally finished. Mortared, stained, sealed. Looks great. The mosquitoes are kinda vicious right now, but I'm hoping the firepit will TCB the critters.

Thanks for reading...

Like others have said, I like the Carter pic. It might appear a little unconventional but I think it's great. Very unique.

When I lived in Texas (as a kid) we had an armadillo that terrorized the whole neighborhood... until one of the neighbors (a native Texan) shot it with a shotgun! Apparently, they (armadillos, not necessarily native Texans) are prolific diggers. Just one possibility.

See you this weekend.

Happy Birthday Carter! We can't believe you're 1 already. The year has gone by so quickly. We're looking forward to seeing some cake eating pics from the party.
