Catching up in Carolina...

[Part two in blog catchup]

So with the whole fam here in NC, things have been picking up as the days are much busier. We're starting to settle in to our rental life, but were hoping this is only short term (Si Dios quiere?).

I've missed too many days/nights of Ms. Schwangston and the boys, and it is nice to know that those days are behind us.

A few interesting experiences with the boys since we've been reunited.

-Grocery Store: Carter has woken up to the world of samples. As picky as he can be sometimes about eating, I think you could put pickled beets on a plate with toothpicks in the store and he'd try it. He also has noticed several of the stores here give cookies out to kids. Thankfully, he is sharing with little brother - for now.

-Riding Bikes: Thanks to some quick thinking in the shipping of Ms. Schwangston's vehicle, we were able to bring C's bike and tricycle. He's taken to riding his run-bike on the trails (a "bicycle adventure" as he calls it) to the library and is impressing me with his off-road skills. I've also started picking up the boys from school in the trailer which will either take me to the next level riding or put me in an early grave. Lugging the ~50lbs of boys plus the trailer up some of these Chapel HILLS is no joke. Both kids enjoy the downhills and turns. O does not enjoy wearing a helmet and will fight it until it is turned sideways or backwards. Carter suggested that we get him a helmet "made of Goldfish" b/c he really likes those. When I asked him what his helmet should be made of he said "Broccoli!" This is a interesting dude.

-Hammock: Carter has discovered hammocks. Mrs. Jansen (landlord/Carter's BFF in NC) has a great screened in porch with a hammock that Carter spent weeks asking if he could try the "mechanic". Finally, after the "Pollen Season" was over, we got our chance and he was in heaven. He asks nearly everyday if he can go lay in the mechanic, and I'm sure our new place will need to have room for one.

Hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks for reading...

Free grocery store samples, bike rides, swaying in the hammock while dreaming about helmets made of broccoli and Goldfish... ahhhh, the good life!
