Somehow it's become mid-August and my 4th of July post has been in draft mode all this time.
Any who, we had a good 4th in NC. The night before, we headed down 40 to Raleigh to hang with the Veggie Bruces. Good, sweaty times were had by all. The many friends and kiddie pools and bikes and VA dress changes and small firework show with no injuries = good stuff. You'll notice a big kid to C's right - he was also named Carter and very sweet to his new best friend who followed him around like a puppy.
We then headed to Heather's annual 4th of July cookout on the actual day itself. Another round of kids, food, kiddie pool, and peeps galore. No pics - sorry. We were hopeful that the rain would hold off so that we could see one of the big firework shows, but no dice.
Instead, the boys got to play in the rain and puddles a bit. You can probably tell that Owen embraces dirt/wet while big bro needed to change into swim attire to hit the rain. Grammy - notice that Owen has on his bday rain boots.
Funny story. Leading up to the 4th, C studied America's bday and fireworks at school. We talked about getting to see fireworks and that they may be loud, etc. He got pretty excited about "going to Disney" since that was his only context for seeing them (last January). Yes, he was a bit disappointed about the news that no, we were not going to be making the trip down south :)
