So Halloween in Chapel Hill is supposed to be next level. Streets packed with costumed crazies and all kinds of mischief. Maybe one day we'll experience that, but with our 4 and 1.5 y/o kiddos, we decided to take a tamer path. Carter made a move away from the animal theme costumes and went as Batman. It was a psuedo homeade with the cape and suit made by daddy's sweatshop. Owen went green by recycling C's Monkey from a few years back but made it his own.
Our prep wasn't the usual and impacted the pumpkin carving output. Next year I promise not to buy another fixer upper house a month before, spend most of my free time working on it, and get on the pumpkins sooner.
Trick or Treat: The weather was pretty nasty, cold and rainy so after getting a call from a neighbor we hit the mall (I know sounds lame) but was fun b/c C got to hang with their twin 3yos and we got to see thousands of other parents that had no Halloween gusto with their costumed kiddies. We (C & Daddy) hit about 10-15 houses after Ms. Schwangston and O headed for some shelter. ToTing is great as a new guy in the neighborhood, b/c you can just stroll up to your new neighbors check out their houses up close, and your kid gets candy = GREATNESS. C got a mess of candy which he dumped and picked out the two or three treats to eat that night. Since then Ms. Schwangston has been "repurposing" his candy - she claims he doesn't miss it, but I'm not going to ask.
