We haven't been to a UT home game in 3 seasons (Fulmer's last season). The main impetus of this trip was not to see the beatdown that we took, but attend the Torchbearer Reunion weekend. Ms. Schwangston won the Torchbearer (highest undergraduate achievement) in 2000. She graciously brought me along as her plus one.
Highlights were seeing some great updates to campus: Ayres Hall, Haslam/Glocker Business, the stadium, and many other changes to our orange home. Carter also was in charge of his classroom's stuffed George for the week so that explains the extra monkey in the pics. And I promise Owen was around too. The biggest highlight without a doubt was when Ms. Schwangston went down on the field in Neyland.
Unfortunately she went down during halftime, and couldn't make any tackles or catch any passes, but it was awesome. She even brought Connellie back some live grass in response to the turf question. Getting to see some of the other Torchbearers and ole UT buds is always great, especially since it has been a little while since we've been together. Hopefully now that we're on the right side of the Mississippi we can get together more often.
We were so graciously hosted by the Connell/White family. Coming back to Knoxville was fun, but hospitality that the White's rolled out made this a great trip. Lydia & Wade shared their rooms & toys with the Schwangston boys and their parents put up with the extra noise that came with going from 2-4 kiddos under one roof.
