Carter and I had a date on Sunday night at the Dean Dome, thanks to some tickets from Lisa's brother (yeah Scott and Jean!). After everything, C's favorite part was riding the Tarheel Express bus from the mall directly to the curb of the Dean Dome.
Bill was a bit sad that one of C's big first sports moments was for the blue team over the orange team. I did remind him that the odds are stacked against the orange team, since we LIVE in Chapel Hill.
We had a great time. C did really well - we only got up once. He was incredibly well-behaved and incredibly inquisitive. He likes the big tall guy #44 (Tyler, like his cousin). He does not like all of the loud cheering after showy dunks and the buzzer - ear cover inducing. C even started his own cheer for us to do - he said "Tar" and I was the "Heel" (my favorite moment). I do think that his questions and commentary entertained everyone around us. One exception --
A giant guy sat next to me (as you can see above). I initially asked C to sit there first, but he shook his head quickly and quietly told me that he was scary. I was scootched all the way over next to C, but this guy was still touching me. He was literally on a third of my seat. Finally at half time, I used the ice cream ploy to "encourage" him to swap seats since I was being scrunched...ahh relief. C did loudly ask me why he was so big to which I responded that he was just made that way.
I used all my tricks (including well-timed Spiderman stickers) to keep him engaged. He definitely was ready to go by 7:30, announcing that he wanted to go home and sleep. Luckily, we walked out with only 5 minutes left and the Heels were up by 20. Let me just say that the ice cream bowl was not conducive to sleep (I think that he was up til 9:45 at least)...
