Well, we didn't actually go to Grandmother's house. She came to us. But it wasn't the typical visit. Grammy made it over the hills, through the mountains and woods to Chapel Hill on the Saturday b/f Christmas Eve (12/17). She worked on prepping and painting doors/trim and walls for the next 72hrs. We did let her sleep and take some quick breaks for lunch, but mostly she was sanding or painting during her visit.
It was a HUGE help, and exactly what I wanted for Christmas. It has been frustrating at times trying to get projects done with the kiddos, busy jobs, and well, the rest of our life. So having an extra set of hands (and very capable when speaking of Patricia S. Langston) was key. We managed to prime and paint all of the hallways/stairways and get two of the four coats required on 9 of the doors (she will want you to know that 7 of them are louvered/slats and very tedious to paint). We also sanded and primed our built-in bookshelves as well. It was the most painting we've done in consecutive days since we've moved in, and a huge leap forward in the odyssey to where we'd like this house to be.
The boys got to celebrate a little Christmas with Grammy and opened a couple gifts from her early. Fire Truck, big dinosaur, and a scuttlebug (tricycle-scooter). They showed that they were ready for the big event later that week.
Thanks again, Mom/Grammy. We promise to be better hosts in the future but really appreciated all of the help this visit. We will show some before and after pics later when we wrap up the rest of this phase of this project, but until then...
Thanks for reading...

Guilty. I hadn't checked the blog in a while and had fallen behind in my reading. Great seeing all the updates. Sounds like you're making great progress on the house.
