We arranged for our overnight babysitter to pick up the boys from school Thursday after work, spend the night, and drop them off at school Fri. morning. It was her first overnight with them, and first time that we haven't left the boys with family. When asked how did it go, her verdict was that Friday was a caffeine heavy day! Since Bill's workload doubled and territory expanded to VA, his boss
treated us to a nice dinner before the concert and an extra nice lodging
right on the beach (Bill's visit usually does not get him beach front lodging during peak season - it was packed!).
I haven't been to a concert since Justin Timberlake at the Am Airlines Center in Dallas in 2007. The NorVa was an awesome venue. The concert was great. Ingrid's music is not exactly high energy, but she did lots of fun versions and was pretty funny too. Bill's verdict? "Better than expected."
Early Friday morning, I got up for a walk on the beach. I didn't even bring running shoes since the boardwalk idea of the mid-Atlantic didn't enter my packing mind. The sand was so peaceful and pretty. Most walkers/runners were on the boardwalk.

As you can see, my summer reading was renovation related. I was surprised at how strong the undertow was. It was a sharp drop-off right when you entered the water (not so kid friendly). Big waves = good body surfing. Overall, it was a great, quick trip. I described VA Beach as Panama City Beach meets Pigeon Forge with a mid-Atlantic boardwalk. Not my ideal, relaxing vacation spot. But hey, a beach is a beach. I'll take it when I can!
