ride for pies and bikes...

One of the best things about being a cyclist is riding during the Christmas light season.  Watching your regular routes transformed with lights, all the decorations are pretty cool.  The "Pie Ride" (a creation by a group that I ride with) takes this a step further.
Everyone is required to make a homemade pie, and we ride through "the neighborhood" (you know, the one where every house is decorated to the next level and there is bumper to bumper traffic) to check out everyone's holiday displays.

After the ride, we spread out our pies and eat as many guilt-free slices as we can manage.  To balance the gluttony this year, we decided that we should all contribute a few bucks to purchase some kids bikes for Toys for Tots in addition to all of the pies.  Thanks to these guys, there will be four new cyclists this Christmas morning which makes me feel better than I did after eating six slices of pie.
