Beardfest

All good things must come to an end. Although, most of you blog readers seem to disagree that the beard was a good thing (thanks Tres for support). But Halloween is over, and it is time to stop dressing up as "Bill with a beard". I have learned a lot in my bearding (my term for growing and sporting a beard) experience.
  • Bearding requires crazy self-control b/c it itches all the time. It's like wearing a cast on your face, but you could take it off it you wanted, but no one can sign it.
  • Bearding makes you look rough, tough, and old. This is of course after the "Backstreet Beard Phase" when you just look like a 14-year old trying to be cool. Shave your beard, and you get the Benjamin Button experience instantly.
As difficult as it is to grow a beard, it is not easy to get rid of it either, but the pain is worth it. After half an hour of trimming and shaving, I recognized that fella in the mirror again, and Mrs. Schwangston seems to like that guy much better than Mr. Beardy.

Please enjoy this film as an homage to my fallen beard.

Thanks for reading...

I loved the soul patch...and the tough guy faces that accompanied it.

Good blog...it's amazing how much smaller your face looks when you first shave the beard...I went with one for a couple of months last year (never got longer than a #3) and thought my face looked gaunt when I finally got rid of it.

Great film production. Some of those shots were a little freaky... reminded me that there's probably still a little skater in you. I would love to never shave again but we probably all look better with the clean shaven look. Props to you for giving it a go and to Schwie for letting you.

Great video. A beard does take a lot of self discipline (I like the cast on your face comparison). The neighbor kids probably aren't as afraid of you without the beard.
