During our trip to Orlando, Carter checked off an unfortunate milestone: climbing out of bed. Although he discovered the necessary skill-sets a few months back, C didn't seem interested in doing it consistently until now. On the last night of our trip, he climbed out of his pack & play, and kept Mommy & Daddy up from 2:30 am onward. Not the best way to start a plane trip home w/a 2 year old.
Once home, we were hoping that Carter would get back into his comfort zone and stay in bed. This was not in the cards. After a repeat scenario of the early morning wake-up call, we decided it was time to remove his crib rail to create "the BIG BOY BED".
Carter was excited about this development, but not excited enough to stay in it. This, coupled with opening doors, made it easier to get out, and then visit Mommy & Daddy's room several times over. The following day, we purchased child-proof door knobs and made his room as safe as possible for his late night maneuvers. So far, he's pulled every toy out that was tucked away, under, or behind something, and then passed out in some interesting places.
The good news is that he finally understands that his BIG BOY BED is for sleeping and spends most nights there. Thanks for reading...

We've been going through some interesting things here too. Sawyer started the crib and pack and play climb at 18 months. He has also mastered removing the baby proof door knob things and climbing baby gates. We now have turned his lock around so we can lock him in from the outside, that works! I can tell you that if you have a girl you probably won't have to deal with any of that stuff, at least Audrey didn't!
Amazing pictures. Hope you guys are staying warm and safe in Dallas (if it makes you feel any better, it snowed and iced here in Norwich yesterday too).
These pictures of Carter are awesome! Also, I love the post about your late-night internet shopping...I can't wait to see all the results of your efforts!
Not sure why but I got a laugh out of the "child-proof doorknobs" comment. Great post and great pics.
