Smokey Mountain Waterpark...

So, most of the country has been roasting hot these past few weeks. East Tennessee is no different. You'd go to the pool, right? Not in the Smokies. The hot spot is the Sinks. For those who haven't had the pleasure, it is a mountain stream that pools just outside of Gatlinburg. The crowd that gathers there is a cross between the monster truck rally and the GED class of 2000. So when I was visiting Knoxville a couple weeks ago, Mark Clark and I thought we'd check it out.

Reason and common sense don't show up too often -just check the picture of the kid in the tree. He was jumping from a limb about 40ft high into water that was maybe 7-8ft deep. Guys that aren't jumping out of trees are jumping from a lower spot (about 30 ft high) - you run out and jump from the cliff. The conservative group just jumps from the rocks about 15-20ft over the deepest part of the Sinks, or if you are creative, maybe backflips, summersaults, spins. It was a nice break from the heat and an entertaining afternoon. If you swing through Knoxvegas on your way to a game during this heat wave,
get a pair of cut off jeans on and hit the Sinks.

That is hilarious! I've been to one of these hot spots in the Smokey Mtns, and you're so right about the cut -off blue jeans!

Isn't that where we went one year during RA training and Larry did a backflip and was about 2 inches from hitting his head on the ledge? I might have cried.
