Project: Patio Phase II Progress & Delays...

Gravel and sand delivered - check. Yesterday, I started moving gravel to the backyard four 40lb bags at a time in my borrowed wheelbarrow - the first trip of six nearly broke it. It will take about 20 trips, but my plan to just is to do a few each morning before work and the heat. Carter is my foreman watching me work, which I believe he gets from his mother.

1st Delay: It seems that a large ant colony moved in under my border. Fire ants do not make a safe work environment. I had to pull up the trim and put down a few "ant resorts." Hopefully they won't want to come back from vacation.

2nd Delay: I managed to get about half of the gravel back on the first day, without the benefit of performance enhancing drugs or Advil. Then I started on day two...RAIN! I know what you're thinking - does it really rain in Texas?!? We haven't seen rain in so long that I don't bother with the forecast. The weather man just sighs and apologizes "another brutally hot day, ugh!" After my first load this morning...full on thunderstorm. I have a feeling that moving wet sand isn't going to be fun tomorrow...

Thanks for reading...

There is nothing like moving wet bags of sand!! Are there any kids in your neighborhood you could hire to lug the stuff around back?? Good luck!!
