Climbing to new heights...

Carter is on his way to becoming the Sir Edmund Hillary of the toddler world. In the last several weeks, he began climbing on all the furniture in the house and at school, managing an expedition to the top of the kitchen table too.

His passion for "rare air" also brought some disciplinary action at school. Recently, he led a few friends to summit the top of the snack/lunch table & now has to eat strapped in the only high chair in his class (OOOF!) if he will not listen to the teachers and stay seated.

While these activities are discouraged quite vigorously by the Schwangstons, last night when I was cooking dinner, Carter was not to be deterred from climbing and spelunking the only non-child proof cabinet available (full of tupperware). With Mrs. Schwangston out of pocket at a softball game, and daddy busy at the stove, he seized this opportunity to empty the cabinet and check it out.

If you are thinking we should probably child-proof this one as well - I should share that he has figured if he puts all of his weight and "baby-determination" into opening the cabinet he can pull it off the latch. He is proud of this discovery, me not so much.

I'm considering enrolling him in repelling or rock climbing classes to develop this skill and teach him the correct technique rather than hinder his obvious talent development. Maybe he could be the youngest up Everest.

Thanks for reading...

He is just like Sawyer! If I'm not watching I will find him sitting on my kitchen table or climbing our coputer desk! It's crazy. I'm just glad he's not climbing out of his crib yet. We're all screwed then. We had to buy locks taht go on the inside of the cupboards because he figured out how to dismantle the exterior ones! CRAZY BOYS!

The boy has got some serious, talent, curiosity, ambition, and determination... and you have got a lot to keep up with.
