We're still looking for full on scuba gear, but this seemed to work for the 20-30 min that we splashed today. This was the first time this summer that Carter was in the pool. Although he started slow, he picked it up quickly. His favorites were splashing, being thrown up/down - you know the usual toddler stuff. Our concerns are that he'd love to jump in on his own with zero help from his protective padres.
One interesting discovery occured when either of us jumped or swam underwater. Since I didn't get any video, it went something like this.
Daddy, Mommy, & Carter: "One, Two, THREE!"
[Daddy jumps off the diving board w/power and grace]
Carter: [Concerned w/his hands on his face] "UH- OOOH!, UH-OOHH!, UH-OOH!
[Daddy is swimming under water like M.Phelps & surfaces]
Carter: [Clapping/Relieved] Da-Da! Hi!, Hi!
He was so worried when we went underwater, but was SO, SO happy when we came up. We're talking frantic laughing and major relief. We weren't sure what to make of it, so we only did it ~5-10x before worrying that we might be permanently scarring him or something. Please don't judge us.
Thanks for reading.
