We have not had too much going on this summer (yet) - well, besides having a newborn that is. The next few weeks will be busy - UNC pal coming to visit, family trip to MN, I go back to work, maybe family from Houston coming up to meet O, and then quick trip to Nashville for college reunion with just Owen and me.
A few weeks ago, I had my first (and probably only so far) outing with both boys without Bill. It doesn't really count as a truly solo trip because Amy was there to assist (and boy did she). She invited us to go to the Museum of Science and Nature, which is perfect for the kids to explore on yet another very HOT Saturday morning. It had both exhibits both inside like the mini-grocery store, pic right, and outside cool water features like water guns, pic above, and pulley systems, pic left). There was a ton to do, and we didn't even get to see it all. Another day, I will tell you about the masked spider man and Carter experience - it's a good one.
Occasionally, the heat drops below 100 degrees, and I actually venture outside for an extended period. Recently, Owen and I made it to the park with Carter and Bill. The wagon came in handy for transporting both boys on our walk across the busy street. Bill taught C how to master the last item at the new playground - the fireman's pole.
Last week, we were able to spend a morning with the Freeman/Wyatt clan. Melissa, with sweet Lucy and Eli, came for a visit with her parents, so we went for a morning swim and lunch. It is neat to see how the kids have grown since the holidays. MJFW was also the lucky recipient of Owen's first diaper blow out...what a lovely way to meet a new friend! (Jess - that is why he is not wearing his Little Brother onesie below). Of course, she just laughed it off, and then her mom's dog got revenge on Bill.
And last but not least, our dear friend and neighbor Dr. Eric is headed back to the west coast after 5 years in TX (we moved in the same week in summer 2005). We will get to see him again some day when we finally get to visit San Diego or meet up for a ski trip. Dr. Eric, you will definitely be missed (and Fritz too)!

Nice post. I miss you guys already. We had so many great times over the past 5 years, and you guys were always there for me when I needed you. I only hope I was as good a neighbor and friend as you guys were.
Bill, I've got my snowboard ready for this winter (dream big?!?!?)
